The 1 Hotel Mayfair opened in London last week, marking the brand’s European debut.
Marketed as offering ‘lower impact luxury’, the eight-storey, 181-room hotel is located on Berkeley street and overlooks Green park.
The hotel was reconstructed using 80 per cent of the pre-existing structure and is built to BREEAM Excellent standards. It includes more than 500sqm of ‘living walls’ on the building’s exterior, partial moss walls in all guest rooms, and more than 200 plant species and 1,300 individual plants across the property.
The newly constructed upper two floors of the hotel house a penthouse suite and 35 further suites all with floor-to-ceiling windows.
Key features of the hotel include the Dovetale restaurant from Michelin-starred chef Tom Sellers, cocktail bar and lounge Dover Yard, a wellness area, and the Neighbours café and bar.
It is the first European hotel from the US-based company which has eight properties across North America – including additions in San Francisco and Nashville last year – and one in China. It also has hotels under development in Paris, Copenhagen, Austin, Riyadh and Melbourne.
